slices good, homestyle bread, crusts removed

cup butter
- ½
lb. fresh mushrooms

cups yellow onions, thinly sliced
- salt
& pepper to taste

½ lbs. Papa George's Reduced Fat Italian sausage
- ¾
lbs Cheddar cheese, grated

½ cups milk (2%, 1%, or skim)
- 2
tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 2
tablespoons chopped parsley
- 1
tablespoon chopped basil
Cooking
instructions
Spread
bread with 3 tablespoons butter and set aside. Melt
½ cup butter in a large, heavy skillet and brown
mushrooms and onions over medium heat until tender.
Season to taste with salt and pepper and set aside.
Remove from casing and cook sausage, breaking up with
a fork in small pieces.
In a buttered, shallow 11" x17" pan, layer
half the bread, mushroom mixture, sausage and cheese.
Repeat the layers. In medium size missing bowl, beat
together the eggs, milk, mustard, salt and pepper to
taste. Pour over baking dish and refrigerate overnight.
When ready to bake, sprinkle parsley and basil over
top, if desired, and bake uncovered for one-hour in
a preheated 350-degree oven.
